View InstagramLOOP & LINK are part of the same collaborative project between the design studio raw_color_ and sancal, which emerged during the first days of Covid-19. Illusion is not only a state of mind, it’s also part of a visual effect that Raw Color achieves when connecting light, shadow, colour and volume in softly rounded geometries. Illusionism is also the masterful translation of graphic expression into the reality of a piece of furniture. In the words of the designers: “From a single gesture a shape evolves that equally unites curved and straight segments. Link & Loop are visually connected by the cylinder. The essential geometry that allows the overall volume to be soft and tactile in its appearance. View InstagramI love it when I find objects where you can see how much detail the designer put into the smallest things. "Daejo is a series of modern wooden stools motivated by the will to deepen our relationship with the objects that surround us. The objects that fill our everyday lives are our constant companions. As such, they should be made with care and built to last, treated with respect and even affection. They should be things of beauty as the philosopher Soetsu Yanagi writes in his book “The Beauty of Everyday Things”, 2019. In order to embody those ideas on everyday objects, the series focuses on the stool, a well known ancient furniture that has history and function as an inseparable object of our lives. Daejo contains different elements of contrast in each stool which its rule is to empower the beauty of creation. Along with ergonomic exams, the design focuses on the visual elements (shapes, composition, material) to induce emotions in users. The design is meant to attract users, evoke delightful emotions and provide different emotional experiences." View InstagramDriven by his passion for traditional craftsmanship, @dennistsai_ wanted to explore the possibilities of creating strong structural furniture without using any fasteners. He utilized an interlocking structure to create a minimal bench design as his first piece for the series. The seating surface is made up of 3 pieces of anodized 7000 series aluminum planks. The flanges of the aluminum planks are inserted into slots in the mirror-finished 316 stainless-steel base. As a person sits down, the vertical flanges of the three aluminum planks are pushed against the stainless-steel feet's inner wall. The metal pieces work together to create a sturdy seating structure for a person without and welding. Its purposefully bent structure and metal finishes are showcased through its minimal design, which allows for easy assembly and transportation, and most importantly, a display of the materials' natural strength. #chair #bench #metalwork #mg-minimal-bench — Follow @minimalgoods_ for daily design inspiration
View Instagram"Mate" is a minimal side table concept from @joaoteixeira_designstudio that has tons of storage, as well as a thoughtful, removable top that doubles as a laptop stand. "The design language is reminiscent of the “Elephant” stool by Vitra, but also has some inspiration from the “Butterfly” stool designed by Sori Yanagi. I mean, how many of you use stools to replace the job of a common bedside table? And this is why the design language took this approach. The metal tube adds extra stability but also adds extra storage, the mix between fabric, metal, and plywood is a formula that has been working out really nice for the studio. There are two holes in the cable management area (on the left and right) so you can pass the outlet cables, the fabric stand also has a design that allows the cable to go through the corners." — Follow @minimalgoods_ for daily design inspiration #table #bedsidetable #modernfurniture #modernstorage #industrialdesign #mg-mate-table

View InstagramThe Spike Chair from Alexander Lervik "The Spike chair is unique in shape. The seat and seat back are fashioned from a number of rods, like a bed of nails, which collectively mimic the curve of a body. The base of the chair is made of tubular steel, welded together with a three-millimetre steel base plate. The upper section is made of turned ash components." Alexander Lervik gained inspiration for his new chair during a trip to the Philippines.”One day it poured with rain. Raining stair rods, as they say, and that’s exactly how it was. The shafts of rain resembled slanted lines and in that rain I suddenly saw the outlines of Spike in front of me,” says Alexander. There is a sense of freedom in being inspired by the rain, seeing a shape and working from that. Otherwise I have to take into account stackability, weight and other practical elements that are essential in a mass-produced product. I believe that the total freedom of projects like Spike makes me a better designer of commercial products,” says Alexander. To make the chair ergonomic it was necessary for the rods to be produced in a number of different shapes. The 60 rods vary in length, with 30 different sizes in total. “I wanted to create a sculptural chair with a strong graphic identity. It was a challenge to make Spike comfortable despite its distinctive appearance,” says Alexander

View InstagramFrosted Ombré Glass Chair Ombré Glass Chair (2017) is a tribute to Shiro Kuramata (1934 – 1991). His iconic Glass Chair (1976) is one of the most influential furniture designs of the 20th century. A breakthrough concept, and one that is profoundly true to its material, Glass Chair set a precedent for the direction of design in glass, in which the simplicity, transparency, and seeming weightlessness of the material are emphasized. The Glass Chair exemplifies fascination with immateriality and transparency. Employing the revolutionary, new industrial product Photobond 100, which cleanly bonds glass, Kuramata was able to join six sheets of glass without screws, mounts or reinforcements thus eliminating all traces of structure. Formed solely from planes of clear glass, the chair’s solid-state seems to dissolve. Almost invisible, these planes, without tangible support, hang in the air.
